Phonics
Phonics at Greenway Junior School is taught using the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised Scheme which has a clear rapid catch-up program suitable for meeting the needs of junior-age children.
The scheme follows a clear progression route for learning and applying phonic knowledge. All the graphemes taught are practised in words, sentences, and later on, in fully decodable books. Children who are not yet secure in their phonic knowledge review and revise it daily in order to move this knowledge successfully into their long-term memory.
